What's a ton, actually?
Indian AC capacity is labeled in tons — one ton pulls about 12,000 BTU of heat out of a room every hour (the name comes from the cooling power of melting one ton of ice a day). As a feel: a compact bedroom takes about 1 ton, a master bedroom 1.5 tons, a living hall 2 tons. Too small and the AC runs flat-out through a 45°C afternoon and never catches up; way too big and it cools so fast the air stays damp.
